So…still don’t know where I am living come this weekend. I also don’t know how I’m getting to this undisclosed location because my fam will be at Northland. I also don’t know what classes I’m student teaching. Thankfully starting Monday I will just be observing for a week, but I would still be much more comfortable with a few more details.
Student Teaching
One of those days…

MySpace
After my pastor phoned me today and strongly suggested that I delete my myspace account, I have chosen to do so. He asked me if it was a good testimony, and how much it showed that I had a heart for God. I had to admit that it probably wasn’t so…no more myspace for me. Hopefully the friends that I have been able to find through that will still keep in touch. We shall see…
So I still don’t know what I’m teaching during my student teaching or where I am living. Minor details…
It looks like I might have a job after student teaching. The chance to teach at the Kindercare where my mom teaches looks pretty promising. Not quite secondary English ed, but it is better than nothing.
We are still waiting to find out if the mass on my grandmother’s liver is cancer. We should hopefully know on Monday. It was a bit of a scare last week, but things are looking more promising now that the colonoscopy has come back clear. It was just so much like what happened with my grandfather right befor he died that we were just shook up a bit.
Funny sign in Chinese market
Funny sign in the bathroom at New Pete’s
One of my favorite places to eat when I was not hanging out with students was good ol’ Peter’s Tex-Mex. There are 2 in Chengdu now and 1 in Beijing. I visited all three of them this year. My favorite is definitely the original or “old Pete’s” as we call it. Pete is such a cool guy. He is super nice and so successful for such a young guy. One of our favorite reason to visit Pete’s other than the delicious (pronounced deeleeshers)food is the beautiful clean restroom with western toilets that include toilet paper. Here is the sign by the restroom at new Pete’s.

Here’s the problem though. Is the sign for the Westerners? Notice that it is in English. I think if they want the Chinese to stop standing on the toilet when they pee, they should make a sign in English. I don’t think most English speakers are tempted to try to stand on a Western toilet and squat. Regardless, we do appreciate their effort to maintain clean and easy-to-use restrooms.

ILTC
Some of our group got split up to different places this year, but I got to stay at good ol’ ILTC where I taught last year. I had lots of fun times despite the heat. I had thirty students and team taught with Kristin.
