Filed under: My boring life, FYI

I keep getting asked the same questions over and over. I just wish I could have a recording and play it back so I wouldn’t be stuck having the same conversation 5 times a day.

The top 6 questions that just won’t go away.

1. How is school going?
2. How cold is it/How much snow is there at Northland?
3. So…anybody special in your life/When are you going to get married/Are you dating/Why are you not dating?
4. Are you finally graduating?
5. What are you doing after graduation?
6. Your Dad letting you drive yet?

My answers

1.Fine. Busier than I thought I would be with only 3 classes.
2. It is colder than PA, but not bad. I just hate the wind. Hopefully the snow will melt soon but experience tells me that we will have snow at missions conference
3. I have a lot of “special” people in my life. Have you met my roommates? Seriously though, not really. I’m not planning on getting married especially since I’m not dating. I’m not dating because no one that I would date has asked me. I think that’s pretty straightforward. There is no good answer to that one.
4. No, not til December but I’ll be done at Northland and will be student teaching in Delaware and finishing up with a correspondence course from BJU
5. No clue. I may get a job offer over in China, but that would require me raising monthly support in a short amount of time. An interesting task as a single female with no job, insurance, or car.
6. Yes and no. Permit, no license.

Interesting pic with the snow and everything, but oh well. So I miss having Conley up here. Growing up pretty much is not fun. Soon I will hopefully have a life. I’ll be done at good ol’ Northland before I know it.

Thy way, not mine, O Lord Lyrics

Filed under: My boring life, Lyrics

This song was sung in chapel today, and I thought that it was just perfect for some situations that I have been dealing with lately. One of my roommates and I have been talking all week about trusting God and how dumb we are when we think our way is better than God’s. So often we make our own plans and manipulate things so they seem to fit into God’s will, but we often don’t seek out what he wants us to do until we realize our plans aren’t working out.

Thy way, not mine, O Lord,
However dark it be;
Lead me by Thine own hand,
Choose out the Path for me.

Smooth let it be, or rough,
It will be still the best;
Winding or straight it leads
Right onward to Thy rest.

I dare not choose my lot;
I would not if I might:
Choose Thou for me, my God,
So shall I walk aright.

Take Thou my cup, and it
With joy or sorrow fill,
As best to Thee may seem;
Choose Thou my good and ill.

Choose Thou for me my friends,
My sickness or my health.
Choose Thou my cares for me,
My poverty or wealth.

Not mine, not mine the choice,
In things both great and small;
Be Thou my guide, my strength,
My wisdom and my all.

The Five Factor Personality Test

Update

No, I am not dead. I have just had a lot on my mind lately and couldn’t put time in the computer lab very far up on the “to-do list.” We just had our day of prayer last week. It was awesome. I am always shocked at how fast the time goes by. We spent most of the morning just giving thanks to God for who He is. It was amazing to pray for so long without asking for anything and still feel so overwhelmed at not even scratching the surface of God and all He is. We were given a list–obviously not even remotely exhaustive–of things that God is. I don’t know how to describe the feeling. I was just so encouraged and overwhelmed and convicted all at once.

Prayer is not merely an occasional impulse to which we respond when we are in trouble: prayer is a life attitude. ~Walter A. Mueller

We sang this song right before the section where we prayed for the Lord to return. I love this song. It is one of the few songs that has been sung at several family member’s funerals that I haven’t grown to hate hearing.

What a Day That Will Be
There is coming a day when no heartaches shall come
No more clouds in the sky, no more tears to dim the eye.
All is peace forevermore on that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

Chorus
What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
There’ll be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no pain, no more parting over there;
And forever I will be with the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

Chorus
What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
What a day, glorious day that will be!
